Tunas and Tails Fishing Tournament

August 3 - 5, 2007

San Clemente Island at Pyramid Cove

Friday August 3 check in with Richard Thompson at San Clemente Island at Pyramid Cove between 4:00pm and 8:00 pm on Channel 71. Boats will need to anchor individually. You can swing on a good bow anchor. Be sure to leave plenty of room between boats. It can get crowded in Pyramid when there is good fishing. I will be leaving Huntington Harbor at Noon on Friday and traveling at 14 knots, taking about 4 hours to arrive at Pyramid Cove. The island is about 55 miles out.

The entry fee is $20.00 per person, $10.00 for kids 16 and under. Fee can be paid at Pyramid Cove prior to Friday before 8pm. Or send prepayment to Richard Thompson at 9234 Mandale St., Bellflower, CA 90706. All people fishing on each boat must be entered in the tournament. Club members and guests of club members including kids are welcome.

Saturday August 4 Fish all Day and weigh in before 6:00pm at Pyramid Cove. Contact Double Hookup on 71. Cash prize for 1st and 2nd place fish. 1st and 2nd largest Albacore or Yellowtail will win the cash prizes.

Sunday August 5, I plan to leave the island for home by 9:00am.

Limit for Yellowtail is 10 per person. There is no limit for Albacore.
Best bait for Albacore is live anchovies. Best bait for Yellowtail is live mackerel. For more info: http://www.sharkbait.com/article/7strand.htm.

Additional San Clemente information:

There is good yellowtail fishing in this area of the island.

Be sure to stay away from the shaded area.

The shaded part of the island will be closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

.
It is a good idea to stay away from the West end of the island.

The albacore fishing will be on the banks south of the island.

Be sure to wear your fishing license.

If you plan to cross over into Mexican waters each person on the boat must have a Mexican fishing license whether or not they are fishing. Mexican Boat permits are also required.
